The course aims to develop an understanding and evaluation of the environmental impacts of transport infrastructure, with particular emphasis on noise, air pollution, carbon footprint, and biodiversity. Students will become familiar with the tools and methodologies applied in transport projects, in accordance with European directives and regulatory frameworks.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
-
understand noise propagation and the main evaluation criteria (SPL, Leq, L10, L90, dB(A))
-
analyze the relationship between urban planning and environmental noise
-
apply Directive 2002/49/EC and the CNOSSOS-EU methodology
-
interpret and evaluate strategic noise maps
-
identify areas with high acoustic exposure
-
assess air pollution levels and their impacts
-
estimate the carbon footprint of transport infrastructure
-
identify impacts on biodiversity and propose mitigation strategies
-
develop a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to issues related to sustainable transportation.
